Your mission
Circu Li-ion is driving the green revolution by reusing batteries through our cutting-edge automated battery disassembly lines. We offer this technology as a service model to recyclers, micromobility & automotive OEMs. Our vision is to deploy the battery disassembly lines in a hub and spoke model around the globe to disassemble Li-ion battery packs into reusable Li-ion cells or modules, minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability. By upcycling the Li-ion cells and modules into battery packs for grid storage, we're revolutionizing the way batteries are reused.
WHY THIS ROLE?
The Electrical Engineering team at Circu Li-ion is looking for a highly motivated Battery Engineer to develop the battery diagnostics and discharging for the battery disassembly lines.
Your expertise in battery pack architectures, electrical systems, battery management systems, and cell materials enables you to evaluate the battery’s and cell’s value and condition to determine the optimal approach for its reuse, repurposing, or recycling.
As a Battery Engineer, you will participate in the entire development process of ESS using second-life cells and modules. This includes conducting initial inspections and diagnostics on incoming batteries, assessing cell diagnostics and testing, and ultimately designing the final ESS.
Circu Li-ion is a fast-paced environment where you will work with a cross-functional team on an incredibly exciting product.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create software that collects, stores, and analyzes battery first-life usage information from BMS through the CAN-bus. Create test code, test setup, and assess the performance of the code.
- Create software to unlock the BMS of the batteries to discharge them. Create a hardware-in-loop test setup to test the performance of the software.
- Design incoming battery diagnostics techniques for assessing their state of health during the initial inspection and discharging. Create a software to collect the battery inspection and discharging data, implement and test the diagnostics techniques.
- Develop, test, and deliver electrical systems that will discharge batteries and measure their state of health. Design and simulate discharger circuits in LTSpice or similar environment and prepare PCB layouts.
- Develop cell SOH and RUL diagnostics platform/system. Perform comparative analysis of current methodology and other state-of-art cell SOH and RUL diagnostics methodologies and select the best performing one.
- Improve the cell testing and diagnostics procedures and analysis. Create software and procedures to automatically collect the test data from the cell cyclers and cell diagnostics system. Develop cell electrical, thermal and data driven ML models with our AI team, for estimating state of health and remaining useful life. Design the tests necessary for the modeling of the cells.
- Design and test battery prototypes from second-life cells or modules extracted from micromobility and EV battery packs. Develop simulation models of the batteries and optimize the design. Design hardware-in-loop test setup, testing procedures and protocols for testing the battery prototypes.
